MLB Fantasy League
This is a 30 team MLB fantasy league. Each major organization is represented. Each year, Fantrax charges $185.00 to run the league. Each team is required to pay their portion ($6.20 per team).
Schedule/Playoffs
We will play a 162 game schedule. There will be 2 day matchups to utilize every player and avoid not having starting pitching available on a given matchup day.
We will follow the real MLB playoff format, with one exception: Each league (AL, NL) will have 5 teams make the playoffs. The division leaders will be seeded #1 to #3 based on regular season record, followed by two wildcard teams being seeded #4 and #5. Unlike real baseball due to our daily matchup format, we will feature a best of three series for the #4 vs. #5 matchup.
The winner of the wildcard matchup will then go to play the #1 seed in each respective league, and follow the real MLB playoff format.
Playoff Tie-Breakers
The MLB playoff tiebreaker format is too complicated for fantasy. We will use the following tiebreaker system.
1. Fantasy Points Scored
2. Head to Head
3. Coin Flip
Rosters
Major league roster size will be a minimum of 20 players and a maximum of 26 players. This will be the active roster not including injured reserve. Teams must maintain the 20 player minimum roster. Major league rosters are only allowed to carry a maximum of 6 SP. Teams MUST carry a minimum of 15 active MLB players. This was done to stop players owners from using minor leaguers (green flag on fantrax) as counting towards your active roster. Also used to help prevent tanking.
If you sign a player to an MLB deal, and send them to your minors, the years still COUNT. Therefore, if you sign a player to a 3 year deal, they will be removed from your roster at the end of the 3 year deal, regardless if they're in the minors or not.

It is the owners responsibility to police their opponents. Commissioners will spot check, however, it is impossible to check every night. Please police your own opponents.
Injured List
Only players on the MLB disabled list are eligible for our IL. IL slots are unlimited. When placed on the IL, you recoup 50% of that players salary for the current season. Suspended players may be placed here, if they are placed on the Restricted OR Suspended list in real life and our league.
Suspended/Restricted List
Players on this list must be on the real life Suspended/Restricted List. They will come off your sheet and be moved to the restricted list. They are no longer on your 26 man roster and will not get paid.

Free Agency
Major League
Free agency is based off a total money basis. To find total money, take the years you're offering, multiply it by the annual amount, to get total money (ex 3 years @ 13m per year is 39m total) 5 years max. In season will be single year deals only.
You must increase the previous offer by a full 1m in total money. Players are nominated on proboards, and assumed won once it goes 24 hours without another bid.
The veteran minimum is 700k. Once a veteran retires he may be dropped free of charge (amnesty).
No back or front loading contracts. An example of this would be 1/1/5/8/20 Or 20/8/2/1
You may add a team option but its value will only be half of what you add since you are not required to pay him that year. An example of this is- 5/5/6/7/TO4 The value of this contract is 25.
Minor League Players/Undrafted Free Agents
Each team receives a 3,000,000 allotment from the league office to use towards UDFA/Minor League Players every year. This amount is used to sign players only. This money can be traded. If a team exceeds the 3,000,000 allotment, the money will begin coming off your salary cap. This money rolls over every year. It is a commodity only to be used for UDFA/Minor leaguers. Once spent on a player this money is gone. Those players do not count toward salary cap until called up or signed to a MLB contract in real life.
Japanese/Korea Posting Systems
Japan:
Teams negotiate contracts using Free Agency rules. Once a player signs, you pay the a release fee to the foreign club (aka, the money comes off your salary cap). The release fee is based off the following stipulations:
For deals of total money $25,000,000 or less: 20% of the total money value (aka if you sign for 24m, your fee would be 4.8m)
For deals of total money $25,000,001 and $50,000,000: 20% of the first 25m, and 17.5% of the next 25 (or whatever it is).
For deals of total money $50,000,001 or more: 20% of the first 25m, 17.5% of the second 25m, and 15% of the rest.
Minor league contracts: Release fee is 25% of signing bonus.
Korea:
Teams negotiate a posting fee. One team wins the right to negotiate for the players contract. You pay the posting fee of your salary cap once a deal is reached.
Once these foreign players SIGN in real life, they will be able to sign here. If not, they return to their respective leagues and can be posted again next season.

Contract Extensions
Each team receives One contract extension each offseason. To calculate the extension amount, you take 150% of the highest paid year. Contract extensions may add up to 5 years on a contract.
No extensions can be offered to players before they get awarded their 2nd arbitration amount.
Each team may only extend the same player once. No team may extend a player more than twice per the life of the contract. At that point the player will revert to Free Agency.

Contract Restructure:
Each team receives 1 contract restructure per offseason. You may move 20% from one year to another.
Restructures on contracts are unlimited on one contract.

MLB Contract Buyout/Waivers
Buyout:
Teams have the option to buyout the contract of players.. To calculate the buyout option, you take 10% of each year remaining on the contract, add it together, and that's your buyout option. For example: A player is signed to a 4 year deal, 15,000,000 per year, with a 5th year team option of 15,000,000. If you buyout the contract in year 1, the buyout option will be 7,500,000 (1.5m X 5 years). If you buyout the contract in year 3, it will be 4,500,000 (1.5m X 3 years). For single year deals half the contract will be used to buyout the player. Only 1 buyout will be allowed per team per year.
Waivers:
There is a 24 hour waiver claim window. Nominating a player in free agency during this window is the same as a claim. If you waive a player, you pay 50% of their salary for every year on their contract.
If a player is claimed, you pay nothing.
If a player is claimed, you pay nothing.
MLB Claiming of Waived Players:
If more than one team claims a waived player, the team with the highest place on the waiver order will receive the player. Waiver order is determined based on previous year record and order will be posted on sheets.
MLB Revocable Waivers:
If you place a player on waivers, you may rescind the waiver request if claimed by another team. If you do so, you have seven days to work out a trade with the claiming team, let the player go to the new team, or rescind the waivers request and keep player on active 26 man MLB roster. This can only be used ONCE per season per team.
Qualifying Offers
For a player to be eligible for a Qualifying offer he must first be on the same team on the 26 man roster from Game 1 to Game 162.
We will always use the qualifying offer amount the real MLB uses. If you sign a player with a QO attached, you forfeit your highest non 1st round pick. If you have none to offer, you cannot sign a player with a qualifying offer attached.
2025Qualifying Offer: 21.05 mill
Contract Renewals:
Team Control
Team Control
Team control is the first three years a player is in the Majors.
TC1 will be $555,000
TC2 will be $580,000
TC3 will be $610,000
Arbitration:
We will either match/deny real life arbitration numbers. Be mindful of projections. Also, if a player signs an extension in TC/ARB, teams will have the right to match the new contract (see Kingery, Scott) or deny the contract. Commissioners will track ARB in the designated thread, however, if your player signs a long term deal while in TC YOU MUST POST SOMEWHERE OF THE EXTENSION AND YOUR ACCEPTANCE. There are too many TC players for the commissioner team to regularly check their contracts online.
Rookie Draft
All signed current year draft eligible players will be taken at this point. The rookie draft will be 5 rounds.
Teams will be awarded Competitive Balance draft picks based off the following factors:
Round A: bottom 5 teams from the previous season (ordered 1-5 based off of Regular Season record). Round A will be between the 1st and 2nd round of the FYPD.
Round B: Teams who lose Qualifying Offer players who's contract values $50,000,000 or more. Round B will be between the 2nd and 3rd round of the FYPD.
Round C: teams who lose Qualifying Offer players who's contract values less than $50,000,000, or teams who place a claim on a waived player and are not awarded the player. This will only be the 2nd lowest team to not get the player. Round C will be directly after Round B.
Competitive Balance Picks CANNOT be traded.
Competitive Balance Picks CANNOT be traded.
Call-ups/Send Downs
Each player has three option years. An option year is a whole year when sent down (aka, you send a player down in April of 2019. Any call up or send down in 2019 counts as only 1 option year).
You may NOT send a Major League player down without clearing waivers. If a player is marked "Waivers Only" on the docs, they MUST clear waivers. You may NEVER send down an MLB player twice the same year. If you do they will immediately be waived from your team with full penalties. The first illegal send-down will be denoted by their name in red.

1. Warning
2. Loss of next 3 matchups.
3. Removal of player from roster with cap hits.
4. Removal from league.
Any player not in team control or on a rookie contract (if they have a salary) the owner will pay half that salary if they are sent down. It does not matter if they are sent down in real life.

Trades
You may assume some cash from a contract or offer another team cash for a player. For the current year, the most you can cover on a contract is 50% of the salary. For future years, the most you can cover on the contract is 25% of the salary. You may not trade salary cap! Remember, you're paying a prorated version of the contract. You may trade a Player to be Named Later (PTBNL).
Trades will be posted to include Players names, contracts, teams, position and reasoning. If there is a questionable trade, please submit a request to the commissioners office and the commissioner will rule to allow or veto the trade.
